PDO: Well Engineering Technical Assistant (Interior)

  • Provide sectional technical assistance in supporting Well Engineers for comprehensive drilling/intervention data management and operations planning with particular emphasis on daily well reports, technical well information, costs, and planning for materials / services for safe & uninterrupted rig operations.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Key responsibility will be to regularly update & maintain quality data in the DIMS*, SAP, EDM and WEPI data base systems.
  • To provide administrative support for upkeep of well files in electronic and hard copy formats
  • Furnish on demand, precise data on cost & drilling performance to Well Engineers
  • Maintain well records including End of Well Reports, collate information on well problems & non productive times that will enable the development of field wise database of drilling problems & best practices
  • Follow up on material availability by working closely with Well Engineers, Senior Well Engineers and Well Engineering Materials Team
  • Attach well material networks in SAP 6 – 9 months ahead of drilling. Refine & update the quantity & specifications of materials as the drilling program matures
  • Monitor, Check & Report on Purchase Requisition, Purchase Orders, Service Entries in SAP
  • Monitor SAP data clean up & Annual Contract Value (ACV) of Contracts on regular basis
  • Undertake quality check of DIMS/EDM data – ensure well data are correct & complete including, but not limited to, well completion hardware configuration. Generate Well Completion Telex (End of Well Status Report)
  • Liaise with Assistant Drilling Supervisor / Well Site Petroleum Engineer on the work units and the Data Management Focal Points of the Asset Teams
  • Generate Well Engineering Performance Incentive (WEPI) sheet for each well in consultation with the Well Engineers
  • Work closely with the Senior Well Engineers, Well Engineers, Service Companies and customers

Requirements Diploma with minimum of 6 years experience in Well Engineering operations. Basic awareness of the fundamentals of well drilling principles, processes & materials Operational experience with the use of SAP/DIMS would be a distinct advantageChallenges

  • Ability to meaningfully analyse, interpret & present technical data
  • Should be fully conversant with MS Office packages – Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Access
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and viewgraphs and to effectively utilize existing databases to collate business information
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations on flow rates, pressures, loads & conversion of different units for mass, length, volume, energy and temperature
  • Ability to develop scaled technical drawings complete with dimensions & annotate critical technical descriptions
  • Good interpersonal & communication abilities
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to accept challenging targets with quality work output
  • Willingness & enthusiasm to learn new skills & to innovate
