Procurement Manager – Wood – Muscat

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Procurement Manager for the Duqm Refinery Project. Successful candidate will be intially based in Chennai for approximately two months and once work at the EPC location has been completed, employee will be transferred to the Duqm Site in Oman to work on a rotational status assignment

  • Manage all Procurement / Materials Management activities for the assigned EPC Work Packages. Review Contractors’ Procurement / Materials Management Plans and material responsibility matrix for the Work Package
  • Interact with the Package Contracts Manager, Package Project Manager, Discipline Leads and Company to meet Project objectives through alignment sessions, to ensure effective cross discipline communication
    Review and recommend submission for any changes affecting materials on the EPC Work Packages
  • Guide during pre-contract award with the bid evaluation and client approvals preparation in accordance with the Project Manager guidelines and client’s standards and rules
  • Guide during post-award activities including kick-off meetings, coordination of procurement-related submittals, correspondence, reviewing and evaluating Contractor’s claims and all other procurement / material related communication with EPC Contractor on procurement matters
  • Liaise with EPC Contractor’s purchase and material department on a day-to-day basis
  • Ensure that the assigned EPC packages procurement and material handling are monitored and rigorous purchase-order / material / time-line / delivery record keeping by both EPC Contractor and PMC is maintained throughout the project

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of twenty years’ experience in major oil / gas refinery / petrochemical projects in the capacity of lead procurement engineer with engineering contractor / PMC organization
  • A degree in quantity surveying, engineering or similar diploma
  • Track record for the past 8 years with experience in PMC / EPC organizations in the field of refinery / petrochemicals industries and must have handling procurement of plant and machinery and materials management for major projects of value not less than US$500 million each
  • Experience in coordinating complex project procurement activities, organization and prioritization
  • Solid understanding of project environment
  • Advanced IT skills / application of SAP, MS Office and standard Procurement Applications and Project Management tools
  • Knowledge of the relationship between line and project organizations
  • Solid knowledge of administration and management principles
  • Knowledge of internal contracting and procurement related standards and regulations including local mandatory requirements
  • Previous experience in Oman is an advantage
